I just find the file, maybe boot into safe mode to install, then I'm playing. With GOG I don't even have to do any of that. Usually by the time I'm done with this adventure, I don't even feel like playing the game anymore. or I'm getting some small thing wrong, then remember my email's ridiculous password, find the code, which takes most of the time by the way, and only then can I finally play my game. And while I won't be able to run the game 20 years from now on my OS, I will be able to run it in a virtualized environment or on a then old system, and it's a pain to always have to install steam, make sure it's running, then remember my ridiculous password, maybe have to reset my password because somehow it's changed. You know, GOG makes things really simple for the DRM-free versions of games sold by the blessed companies that decide to provide a DRM-free version. And what bothers me is I don't want to need the internet and to sign into my account just to reinstall the game. I expect 20 years down the road, I will play this game again. ![]() according to one post a few years ago by an account marked "developer," this means I can play the game without steam, but do I still have to reinstall steam and reconnect online to my steam account just to install it?įor the benefit of the moderators: the reason I ask this is because I enjoy this game Space Rangers. However, for the games sold on steam that are DRM-free, like Space Ranger HD A war apart. ![]() If GOG.com has the game, I'll usually buy it from them, even if it's more expensive. So, the only reason I don't buy games from Steam is because I require steam to run them.
